Hi everyone and thanks for visiting our blog. My wife and I created this blog to chronicle our experience while raising a son with Asperger's syndrome. Since our son was diagnosed with an ASD at age 5, we've had a lot of questions. Lucky for us we have a great support network in place. And our blog gives us an opportunity to share what we've learned with our readers. We hope you find our blog informative and interesting. Thanks again for visiting.

Finally, it's the weekend and luckily, it's also a long one.  After the meeting at Jacob's school on Monday, we thought that he'd have a rough week for sure.  But Jacob's week was actually great.  Today his class was going on a field trip, but Jacob didn't go.  It's a long bus ride to their destination, and Jacob would definitely be car sick, thus making him mad upon arrival.  So we kept him home.  This week at school, Jacob earned:

The days that Jacob had following our school meeting were great.  I'm not sure why, but it seems to me that Jacob has heightened awareness or something like that when it comes to our interaction with the school.  We felt like he could almost sense the direction that our school meeting went.  He's going to get grief counselling and behavioural therapy at school, and it felt as though he somehow knew.  Which is strange to us considering that Jacob wasn't at the meeting and he doesn't share his feeling with us very often.

Jacob also seemed some what relieved at home after the meeting.  It's like he feels better now that we have had an open discussion with all his teachers about his recent behaviour.  And with the school meeting, we too feel better now that we have a clear direction to follow.  We're not sure where we're heading, but at least it seems that Jacob will get some much needed help.

On a happy note, tomorrow is my mom's 68Th birthday.  I think we're all going over to her house to make a mess.  The last time the whole family got together was on Jacob's birthday in March, so it will be nice to have everyone together.  I'll try and post tomorrow to let everyone know how things went.
