WELCOME TO JIM'S AUTISM BLOG

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting our blog. My wife and I created this blog to chronicle our experience while raising a son with Asperger's syndrome. Since our son was diagnosed with an ASD at age 5, we've had a lot of questions. Lucky for us we have a great support network in place. And our blog gives us an opportunity to share what we've learned with our readers. We hope you find our blog informative and interesting. Thanks again for visiting.

"It seems that for success in science and art, a dash of autism is essential." Dr Hans Asperger 1906-1980

SHARING A STORY ON WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

Here in my neighbourhood, we have a local newsletter that circulates to homes in our area.  It's called the North End Breezes and this month's newsletter has a great story about another family in our neighbourhood that's been affected by autism.  The story is by Paul Cerretti who has twin daughters, aged 8, both of which have been diagnosed with autism.

Their story is not unlike many others I've read in the blogging community, but their story is unique.  Unfortunately for them the Provincial Government is following the Federal Government, in their inability to make informed decisions.  While Paul's daughters are twins, both with autism, thanks to funding cuts, only one will continue to get the appropriate behaviour therapy.  Paul and his family have an all to familiar struggle with support and acceptance for his children.

You can read their story here at the North End Breezes.  Their story shows us that even though we've come a long way, we still have a long way to go.  Happy World Autism Awareness Day.
