WELCOME TO JIM'S AUTISM BLOG

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting our blog. My wife and I created this blog to chronicle our experience while raising a son with Asperger's syndrome. Since our son was diagnosed with an ASD at age 5, we've had a lot of questions. Lucky for us we have a great support network in place. And our blog gives us an opportunity to share what we've learned with our readers. We hope you find our blog informative and interesting. Thanks again for visiting.

TRIP TO THE JAMES STREET NORTH PRINT STUDIO

Jacob had a terrific day at school today.  The highlight of the day was Jacob's trip to the James St N Print Studio.  Usually class trips involve going on a bus, which always guarantees the need of a barf bag.  But the Print Studio is within walking distance of his school.

The Print Studio is one of the businesses involved in the James Street Art Crawl that happens on Friday nights.  The class took part in the Youth Screen Printing Program which is put on by the Trillium Foundation.  Jacob chose to make a squirrel to use for his screen printing and he got to bring his template home to show us.  The other grade 2 class is going to the Print Studio next week and they'll pick up the finished artwork for my son's class.

The Print Studio is also holding an Art Lottery which will take place on June 11, 2012.  There are 100 works of art and there's only 100 tickets being sold at $100 each.  The lottery drawing will be held at Earl's Court gallery on Ottawa Street North.  Since there's only 100 tickets and 100 pieces of art, everyone is guaranteed to win.

All in all Jacob had a great day and he really enjoyed screen printing.  It's great that a gallery like this is so close to home, so we'll definitely be visiting the Studio as a family.  Here's the link to the Print Studio website if you'd like to check it out.  And here's the website for the James Street Art Crawl.
