WELCOME TO JIM'S AUTISM BLOG

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting our blog. My wife and I created this blog to chronicle our experience while raising a son with Asperger's syndrome. Since our son was diagnosed with an ASD at age 5, we've had a lot of questions. Lucky for us we have a great support network in place. And our blog gives us an opportunity to share what we've learned with our readers. We hope you find our blog informative and interesting. Thanks again for visiting.

A FATHER'S DAY WITH AUTISM

So yesterday was Father's Day, but luckily for me, I've been celebrating it all month, lol.  But yesterday, I got the best gift in the world.  I was able to sleep in to almost 9AM.  I know, but before everyone starts cursing me, of course, because I slept an extra hour or so, I felt really tired for most of the day.

Then as I lied on the couch, waiting for Shannie to make me a wonderful Father's Day breakfast, Jacob brought me a Father's day card that he had made in school on Friday.

Pretty artistic right?  Some of Jacob's classmates made cards that were full of people, places and animals.  But simply because it was Jacob who made it for me, I love his card the best.  And the best part of the card is the heart on the front cover.  Jacob rarely shows creativity when he colours something, so when he does, it's very special.  And as such, the card is being proudly displayed beside the television in our living room.  This way, I can look at it all the time.

Then yesterday afternoon, Shannie and I went for a nice quiet walk and had a coffee together.  Which was nice because it was just the 2 of us.  So my Father's Day was just how I'd like it to be.  Calm and Quiet.  So I hope that everyone had as good a day as I did.
