We got to school fine, and without much fuss, which was nice. Then at lunch as we were coming home, Jacob told me that he had a really nice supply teacher in today. RED FLAG! We all know how kids can be when a supply teacher comes to town, and Jacob is no exception. So when he told me that he had math homework, I wasn't surprised, yet I was pleased that it was only math homework.
Then this afternoon, Jacob's normal EA wasn't there in class either. But he did have his morning EA and he didn't have any homework from the afternoon session. But then as we sat down to finish his homework from the morning, it seemed as though Jacob has completely forgotten everything he's learnt up until Christmas.
Now we don't know what the issue is, but we hope that it works its way out soon. Jacob was even struggling to do things that last month seemed so easy. So now it seems that we have to divert to our old system where we withheld his favourite things if he had homework left over from class. We don't like not letting him use the CPU or the iPad, but there the only leverage we have.
Hopefully things turn around soon because it feels like Jacob is behind in areas that he was once excelling in. And next week, we have a meeting at the school with all of Jacob's educational team, which will hopefully give us some good learning tools and teaching strategies that once implemented, will remain all through Jacob's education. Either way, were just going top keep positive and work towards going in a positive direction.
Oh how I miss the summer. Things were so much easier then. |
I'm sure it will all come back quickly once Jacob gets back into the swing of things. It's tough after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Kristy. Things are always tougher after a holiday. But before we know it, the march break will be upon us, and then, summer.
