Hi everyone and thanks for visiting our blog. My wife and I created this blog to chronicle our experience while raising a son with Asperger's syndrome. Since our son was diagnosed with an ASD at age 5, we've had a lot of questions. Lucky for us we have a great support network in place. And our blog gives us an opportunity to share what we've learned with our readers. We hope you find our blog informative and interesting. Thanks again for visiting.

This week can definitely be described as a roller coaster.  We've been trying frantically to get the purchase of our new house done.  And Jacob has been sick twice in the past 7 days, so needless to say we haven't been eating, sleeping or thinking properly at all.

In fact, this week has been long.  It feels like it's been a month since we first put the offer in on Tuesday.  Jacob in a way, is kind of empathetic, especially towards us.  His first 2 days of school were rough, and he didn't do any work at all.  Then his next 2 days were great and he got 4 stickers on his reward calendar.  But it seemed that as soon as our stress levels rose, he began to get sick again.

Jacob was sick last Friday which was also a PD day for his school.  So even though it was a long weekend, it was a write off.  Then on Thursday evening, out of nowhere, he began puking.  So this weekend, will also likely be a total write off, which is tough because it's Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday.  That's officially 2 long weekends in a row in which Jacob has been displaying flu like symptoms.  But he's tough and even though he can't eat much, he's still laughing as he watches cartoon.

But now we have our new house, so we already feel much better.  I slept about 10 hours last night because I haven't been sleeping much this week.  Now we just have to wait until November 15th to move into our new home.  It's bitter sweet because we've been here for 11 years and it will be tough to move out, but it's for the best.  And I'm sure that we can all use a fresh start.

Our new home.

  1. What a beautiful new home! I'm sure you will make tons of wonderful memories there. I know change is hard and sometimes it feels like you are losing your home (I've moved a few times) but this new home has so much potential for you you and your family. I hope you are happy there.

  2. Thanks Mac. I know we'll love it and I think Jacob will transition well. It's only 2 blocks away so he doesn't have to miss a beat. I can't wait to move in.

  3. I LOVE your new home! It was hard for me to move out of my house and into The Murph's last year too. I had been there 18 years! I actually had an anxiety attack right afterwards. My son and the cats handled the move so much better than me. It was such a great new start for us. Much needed! Sorry I am just now commenting on your post. I got on here Sunday after the wedding trying to catch up on everyone's blog posts and I fell asleep!! I am recovered now finally! I know you guys will be very happy in your new home.

    1. Don't worry about it. You've had a busy week too right? I'm glad things went well for you at the wedding. I too am worried about moving even though it's only 2 blocks away. And Jacob seems upset about the move too, but it's for the best.
