It's the day after Christmas and things are still in holiday mode. Luckily for us, our son doesn't mind playing with his iPad quietly up in his room. So being on top of his Internet usage, I decided to look and see what some of his favourite apps are. Here are 5 great apps for kids with autism, or in our case aspergers.
5. Zenobia 4. I've only briefly looked at this game, but it seems pretty cool. It's a turn based battle game that only let's you play a little at a time. It has cards to collect and lots of cool monsters to defeat.
4. Clash of Clans. This is also a turn based game that takes time to play. In this game you have to build your village and invade others to progress. This game has lots of play time and is always changing, so it doesn't seem to get boring.
3. Mystery Gardens of Time. In this timed turn style game, you have to develop your character as you progress through various stages. There's lots of battling aswell as some cool interactions between characters.
2. Skylanders. This is probably the best action/adventure game for all the platforms. And the iPad version is just as good. It's a mix of spyro the dragon and sly cooper type games. You can play a good amount of the game for free, but you have to buy $10 characters to really get into it.
1. Monster Quest. This game is by Gree who have made a few fantastic games. In this game, you have to build a village, develop your army and beat monsters and rival trainers. There's over 200 monsters that I've seen and I haven't even seen all the levels.
The nice thing about these apps is that you can get some good gameplay without spending money. I know that there are costs with owning an iPad, but its nice to find some quality games for free. The only problem I see is the amount of quiet time I get when my son plays them. We all know what it's like to be scared when its too quiet right?
There are so many different games out than when my son was little. I am not familiar with any of them anymore. He probably still plays some but I'm not sure which ones. It was much easier when he was younger to check on him when things were too "quiet". Now I have to respect his privacy a little more. It's tough!
ReplyDeleteI hear you Kristy. My son seems to enjoy slamming his new door. But then it got stuck and he called for help. That brought him back down to earth, but he was mad. And apps for the iPad are great. I have a few that I play everyday, when i get a chance.
